Sushetha Gopallawa, L.L.B., L.L.M.
Advocacy Director
Sushetha Gopallawa is an advocacy director at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Center for Human Rights (CHR). Ms. Gopallawa is responsible for implementing projects for the 1988 Kenyan Laureate, Gibson Kamau Kuria, that facilitate defending the rule of law and supporting constitutional reform. She supports the 1999 Laureate, Archbishop Michael Kpakala Francis of Liberia, in his pursuit of strengthening civil society and respect for human rights as a basis for sustainable peace.
Ms. Gopallawa is specialized in the areas of public international law and international organizations, international human rights and humanitarian assistance. She has worked for the World Bank, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, the Sri Lanka Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy to the United States and Permanent Mission to United Nations. She has also worked with several national and international NGOs.
Ms. Gopallawa earned her B.A. in English and Sociology from Albright College and her L.L.B. from the University of Colombo, Faculty of Law in Sri Lanka. She continued her education at American University Washington College of Law where she received an L.L.M in international legal studies.
